You can take your baby outside when the weather is nice. Remember that a newborn baby’s skin is particularly sensitive to sunburn and so direct and prolonged sun exposure should be avoided. Make sure that your baby is dressed for whatever weather conditions you will be in. And remember that newborns have limited immunity from infectious diseases, so contact with ill people should be avoided.

Sunscreen may safely be used on babies after 6 months of age. Use a sunscreen with a 30 to 45 SPF rating.
